January Marked the 10-Year Anniversary of Diverso Energy!

This January, Diverso celebrated a decade of innovation, growth, and pioneering technical breakthroughs. What began as a small team with a bold vision to make geothermal a mainstream utility has since grown into an industry powerhouse.

Before sharing how we got here, let’s rewind to 2014. After honing his skills for 10 years in Ontario and the Northeastern United States, Tim Weber, Co-Founder and CEO of Diverso Energy, identified the Greater Toronto Area as a promising next target. However, his background in HVAC and geothermal alone wasn’t enough to make this new geothermal utility model market-ready.

Recognizing this, he turned to Co-Founder and CTO Sergio Almeida, a mechanical engineer, expert in building science, and innovator in multi-residential geothermal. Sergio’s company, Geo-Xergy Systems, would later become Diverso’s engineering arm! Jon Mesquita, our COO, rounded out the team with his business acumen, providing the financial and contractual expertise that would ultimately help developers overcome initial barriers to entry.

Their combined vision and knowledge laid the foundation for Diverso, creating not just a business, but a new market for “geothermal as a service.”

As we reflect on this milestone, we’re deeply grateful to the forward-thinking companies who took a chance on us—whose trust has been instrumental in refining our approach, pushing boundaries, and reshaping industry standards.
